Why is UrbanChain less volatile than wholesale energy?
Because you’re getting energy directly from renewable generators who’ve agreed to sell for a certain price over a longer period. This means prices don’t rise and fall in the same way as the wholesale market, where renewable prices are pegged against fossil fuel prices.
How does it work?
We bring together generators that meet the volume and financial requirements of your need. We’ll take things into account like where you’re both based, any agreements to create private energy networks, and demand and supply levels at the time. We’re constantly balancing things out, and we report the details every 30 minutes.
How is UrbanChain energy generated?
UrbanChain generators produce electricity from all sorts of renewables, including wind, solar, hydro, biomass and biogas. When demand outstrips supply, we’ll source alternative resources like batteries, EVs and other sources of power before we buy from the wholesale market.
Is UrbanChain renewable energy traceable?
Yes. We use industry data to keep track of how and when the energy you use was generated. We give details for each half-hourly period, and you can check in your customer dashboard.
Do you generate energy too?
