Deloitte has today announced the winners of the 2024 UK Technology Fast 50 awards - with UrbanChain winning four prizes.
Having just announced plans to scale-up in the United States, UrbanChain claimed the CleanTech award, third place in the Fast 50 and number one in the north west, while the Women in Leadership gong went to CEO and founder Somayeh Taheri.
Backed by investors including leading European investment group Eurazeo, UrbanChain’s tech creates local clean energy markets to connect buyers and sellers.
The Manchester-based company are also undergoing a Series B fundraise having recorded a turnover of £25 million in 2023-24.
Following Deloitte’s 2024 UK Technology Fast 50 awards Somayeh Taheri said: “It’s an exciting stage in our growth at UrbanChain. It’s so exciting to be recognised in this way, and in three categories, too!
“I’m so proud of our team. We’ve grown fast to over 50 talented, driven people who are committed to the climate, helping solve fuel poverty and shaking up our outdated energy market.”
Deloitte’s 2024 UK Technology Fast 50 awards recognise and rank the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in the UK, based on average revenue growth over a three-year period, and are sponsored by Citi, Oracle NetSuite and Tipalti.
The 2024 Fast 50 winners have a collective average three-year growth rate of 2,468%, and generated total revenues of £1.93bn in 2023/24.
UrbanChain - whose marketplace matches generators of renewable energy and consumers on a half hourly basis, including private companies, office buildings, industrial sites, local government organisations, hospitals and many more - recorded a three-year growth rate of 8,810%.
Kiren Asad, lead partner for the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 programme, said: “We continue to see the resilience of the UK’s technology sector, demonstrated clearly from the impressive growth amongst this year’s Fast 50 winners. Amidst challenging economic conditions, these businesses have navigated their way to growth through tenacity, talent, and innovation in what remains a competitive market.”
“Registering revenue growth of 8,810% over a three-year period is an impressive achievement. The exceptional growth of UrbanChain puts it in select company.”
